Self-Compassion
A kinder way to support yourself
Self-compassion is the practice of treating yourself with the same kindness, understanding, and care that you would naturally offer to someone you love. For many parents and carers, this can feel surprisingly difficult. We’re often quick to criticise ourselves, push through exhaustion, or put our own needs last — believing that everyone else must come first.

Yet self-compassion isn’t selfish. It’s essential.

When we cultivate self-compassion, we learn how to meet ourselves with gentleness rather than judgment, especially during moments of stress, overwhelm, or self-doubt. It allows us to acknowledge that parenting and caregiving are deeply human experiences — messy, emotional, and imperfect — and that struggling doesn’t mean we’re failing.

Through self-compassion practices, you can:

-
Soften harsh self-criticism and inner pressure
-
Build emotional resilience during challenging times
-
Create space to rest, recharge, and reconnect with yourself
-
Respond to difficult emotions with understanding rather than resistance
-
Support your own wellbeing while continuing to care for others
By nurturing your inner world, you’re not only supporting yourself — you’re also modelling emotional wellbeing, balance, and kindness for those around you.
Cultivating Self-Compassion: A 4-Week Journey for Parents and Carers
Parenting and caregiving can be deeply rewarding, but they can also be draining, overwhelming, and emotionally demanding. This 4-week programme is a gentle, supportive space designed to help you slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with yourself with compassion and care.

Across four weeks, we’ll explore simple yet powerful mindfulness tools — including journaling, tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), breathwork and guided meditation — to help you develop self-compassion and nurture your inner wellbeing.

What we’ll explore:

-
Week 1: Introduction to self-compassion
-
Week 2: Self-compassion and self-criticism
-
Week 3: Self-compassion and difficult emotions
-
Week 4: Self-compassion and burnout
Throughout the course, you’ll be invited to take part in group discussions and shared reflections in a safe, nurturing environment — always at your own pace and comfort level. This is a space where you can be heard, supported, and understood by others who truly get it.

By the end of the four weeks, you’ll leave with practical tools and techniques to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease, compassion, and resilience — feeling more grounded, supported, and connected to yourself.
